I was born on February 19, 1941, and boy, did I have quite the journey. As a Vietnam paratrooper, I owe my life to the Brotherhood of Troop G18. We were more than comrades; we were family, and that bond saw me through the toughest battles.
My beloved wife of 38 years passed away on June 8, 1984. She was my rock, my heart, and I miss her every day. Together, we raised a beautiful daughter, Susan. Susan, you and your husband Rich brought so much joy to my life, and I am so proud of you both. My granddaughters, Sally and Jenny, you lit up my world with your laughter and love. “See, I took our secret ice cream snacks with me to my grave! Ha!”
Love all you guys. But I must say, much thanks to Buddy. I didn’t want him at first, but boy, he brought me through some tough times. A dog is truly a man’s best friend, and Buddy was mine.
My goal was to love, and I can say, “Mission Accomplished.” Through all the ups and downs, love guided me, and I leave this world knowing I gave it my all.
Farewell for now, until we meet again.
With love,
Samuel J. Bilson
